I’m Marcel Desjarlais, the proud owner of FNMI Group Care.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I’ve always worked with indigenous youth throughout my life, whether as a police officer, elected official, or as an aboriginal liaison and cultural coordinator in a group care setting. I soon realized that these indigenous youth and young adults were missing out on their native culture.

It inspired me to launch a group home facility that provides a foundation of identity, language, and ceremony. So, through my services, my mission was to create a sense of direction for today’s youth by helping them embrace their roots.

Consequently, I always promote open communication, and as an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my honesty. Besides, I use my vast experience to build rapport so that communities trust me, and I’m able to achieve my objectives.

I also attribute my accomplishments to believing in the communities that I serve and my staff’s acumen. I think that a company’s employees are their most precious asset, and we are only as strong as our weakest link.

Therefore, I’ve built an organization based on robust relationships and render the most updated training and support. It empowers employees to carry out tasks to the very best of their abilities so that they can excel at their jobs.

As a result, working alongside my team and sharing hardships and success stories fills me with immense satisfaction. It’s also rewarding to help the youth gain a sense of belonging and acceptance by connecting them with their language, culture, and ceremonial rituals.

When I’m not conducting ceremonies, I get back to nature by gathering medicinal plants and going hunting or fishing. I also like to bake my mom’s traditional recipes, but most of all, enjoy spending quality time with my family, children, and grandchildren.

As a native/Nehiyaw man, dad, and grandfather, I feel strongly about supporting MMIW-Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. Women are the sacred life-givers and water carriers of our communities, and we must do our utmost to treat them with love, kindness, and respect. We must serve and protect our women, daughters, and granddaughters to ensure that they can lead our communities in the right way.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise as a carer in Edmonton, AB, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.fnmigroupcare.com.

Sincerely,

Marcel
